biography

I am a multidisciplinary artist and designer, working on a variety of commercial and independent projects. Formally trained as a graphic designer, I work with various clients and companies on product, web and graphic design, surface design and illustration projects.

Primarily a self-taught artist, I have taken various arts and crafts courses over the years but have concentrated mainly on independent study. My earliest influence was my father, Michael Stowe, also a self-taught artist who introduced me to the magic of creating at a very young age.

Growing up in Eastern Canada, I have a great appreciation for nature and wildlife. These subjects are heavily represented in my work, often with an underlying commentary on their relationship with modern society. In the ongoing exploration of my roots and identity, slavic and folk characteristics make themselves at home in my aesthetic.

Between client work and commissions, I am currently developing a new collection of surface pattern designs to launch this spring. The constant variable in the process of all my work, independent and commercial alike is the starting point of sketching and writing.

I work from my home studio alongside my two English Setter pups, and my incredibly supportive partner Kevin.
